This is a pleasant walk through the parishes of Little Munden and Great Munden following wooded byways, bridleways and footpaths across farmland. It's an undulating walk with wide open views. It's mainly good under foot except for one or two short stretches across fields which, after being ploughed, can be a bit sticky and hard to navigate. So please take a map and a compass to ensure you stay on track.

Park in Dane End. We found a car park on the edge of the village at grid reference (location - https://w3w.co/peanut.alien.sizes). It is owned by Little Munden Parish Council who were very helpful and told me that people using our walks are welcome to park there. The car park is sometimes locked at night but I was told that they won't lock it if there is a car parked in it. But best to try to get back before dusk.

1: Head NE along Munden Road looking out for Little Munden footpath 1 on the left between the cottages (location - https://w3w.co/weekend.perfumes.slurping). Take this path and head N for 160m until you reach a footpath junction (location - https://w3w.co/swaps.could.costumed). Turn left and head NW on Little Munden footpath 14 for 430m uphill and across a field until you reach another footpath junction (location - https://w3w.co/crop.clapper.remove). Continue straight (ignore paths to the right and left) and head uphill on Little Munden footpath 5 heading NW for 450m to a point where the path splits (location - https://w3w.co/quitter.winters.reform), one going left and downhill to a lane but the main path, which you take, continuing slightly to the right and going through woodland for another 100m to meet the same lane (location - https://w3w.co/unscathed.slurred.picturing).

2: Turn right on the lane and head NNW for 40m before taking a left turn on Little Munden bridleway 7 (location - https://w3w.co/fuzz.weekends.bounding). Head W for 250m at which point Little Munden bridleway 7 veers to the right (location - https://w3w.co/chat.stooping.otherwise) and heads NW for 450m downhill until you reach a junction just beyond a concrete bridge (location - https://w3w.co/equipping.pardon.refer).

3: Turn right and head NE on Little Munden restricted byway 16 (which later becomes Great Munden restricted byway 54) for 2km. This is a lovely quiet stretch alongside the edge of The Old Bourne. Continue until you reach a three-way signpost, see image below (location - https://w3w.co/endearing.spells.joystick).

Turn right at the three-way sign, cross the bridge, and turn left on the lane

4: Turn right, cross a concrete bridge, then turn left on the lane and head NE for 280m until you reach Great Munden BOAT 14 (byway open to all traffic), also known as Dark Lane, on the right (location - https://w3w.co/pothole.gateway.twitches). Take this track Great Munden BOAT 14 and head SSE for 900m until you reach a junction (location - https://w3w.co/hourglass.devours.erupts).

5: Turn right on Great Munden BOAT 20, which becomes Froggs Hall Lane and head SW for 250m until you reach a lane (location - https://w3w.co/unable.mavericks.bands).

6: Turn left on the lane then head SE for 250m looking out for a track on the right opposite Yew Tree House (location - https://w3w.co/belong.stay.nuzzling). Turn right on Little Munden footpath 3 and head SW then SSE then SSW for 310m until you reach a junction, see image above (location - https://w3w.co/again.crib.comically). Turn left on Little Munden footpath 2 and head E for 210m looking out for a footpath on your right towards the end of the field (location - https://w3w.co/servicing.richest.mixer).

7: Take this path Little Munden footpath 1 and head SSW and diagonally across a field that can be muddy if recently ploughed. Continue for 1km until you reach a lane and All Saints Church Little Munden (location - https://w3w.co/skimmers.wiring.hovered).

8: Walk through the churchyard, the official route of Little Munden footpath 1. After walking round the church you go down some step. Turn right and, immediately after the school, turn right again, still on Little Munden footpath 1 (location - https://w3w.co/unhelpful.flexibly.rooks). Head SW for 460m until you reach the junction with Little Munden footpath 14 mentioned in point 1 above (location - https://w3w.co/olive.begins.makeup). Turn left, still on Little Munden footpath 1 and return to Dane End village and the starting point. The Boot pub/restaurant is close to the start/finish point (location - https://w3w.co/bond.outgrown.bulldozer).
